How much does a New Website cost?

This is the most common question we get, so let’s get right to it!

If you’re thinking about a new website and want to know how much it will cost, you’re in the right place. You can send the same proposal to 4 different website companies and you will get 4 different quotes, often with a very wide range in terms of pricing.

Remember, we are Web Administrators (We do it all, the complete package) and not Web Designers (Just Web Design). Pricing can be tricky, the question isn’t just “how much will my new website cost?” the question is, “what should my expectations be for the budget I have?”

The truth is, Web Administration can range from $100 per month, to over $3,000. The best solution for you will depend on how you, your goals and your budget align together. In this brief guide we will give you a sense of exactly what you can expect. We also offer other suggestions and solutions that might be right for you based on your budget.

Your goals, your budget and your personal involvement will all factor in.

– How involved do you want to be in the process? Are we just the developer, and you are the content writer / marketer? Do you want us to take on all online aspects of your business such as Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Marketing? As our roles increase, so will the pricing.

GOALS – What kind of a website do you want? Do you want a website that looks “good enough”? Better than your competitors? Or the leader in your industry? Each of these goals are different and your budget will have to adjust accordingly.  Do you want the “Honda Civic” of web design or the “Lamborghini”? It’s completely up to you and your budget.

BUDGET – Your budget will be affected by your goals for the business and how much involvement you want us to have. The higher quality website and more involvement in the business, the higher your budget will have to go.

Our pricing will always be lower than a big name design and marketing firm.  If you find a better price, investigate what you are actually getting. WATCH OUT FOR HIDDEN FEES!

Warren Buffet, the world’s greatest business investor and second richest person on the planet, said that the key to making a good business decision is understanding Opportunity Cost.

Opportunity Cost is not just asking ‘Will I get a good return on my investment’ it is asking the question ‘Of all the things I could do with this money, is this the overall best thing I could do’.  The question most people ask is ‘How much will this website cost’ but that’s actually not the best question to ask. The real question to ask is ‘What is going to produce the most value for my business overall?’33

Someone getting a “free” website might think they got a better deal than someone who pays $500 per month.  You can guarantee the business with a dedicated Web Administrator is generating more traffic, more leads and more sales than the business with a “free” website. In terms of total dollars the “free” website may have cost the business $100,000+ in lost business it might have otherwise gained with a Web Administrator.

In summary, a Web Administrator has one purpose, to build a platform that turns potential customers into sales. We do this by identifying the users visiting your site, speaking to their needs and motivating them to take the next step.

Remember, a Web Administrator is far different than a Web Designer.  We are equipped with a range of skills that work together to deliver results.

  1. Search Engine Optimization – Ensure potential customers looking to fill a need find your website.
  2. Social Media Marketing – Target your customers and drive them to your website.
  3. Web Development – Your website turns potential customers into sales.

We are going to assume that you have read everything above and understand the value a Web Administrator can bring to your business.  That being said, only you can decide what is right for your business.  Here are a few options and what you can expect.

Free Websites & Do It Yourself Design Platforms
If you want a new website but you have no money. No problem! There are plenty of free options available. Most of these solutions are free website builders which offer you a limited range of copy and paste templates to choose from. Another option is to install a free WordPress theme on a self-hosted server. In this case you’ll still need to pay for hosting, domains, security certificates, and won’t give you any benefits in the speed or performance department.  This option will also require a lot more technical knowledge to implement.

$100 and Under Websites
If you have a little bit of money to spend your options expand. Either you can use some more expensive website building platforms that allow more customization and branding or head to craigslist and find a cheap no name developer looking for cash.

$100 per Month Website
If you want to bring on a designer at this price point, you will likely be hiring a local freelancer to help you modify a basic template to match your branding. He most likely uses the same template for all of his clients and has no knowledge of Search Engine Optimization. You are essentially paying for a ‘semi-custom’ piece of art that my look nice, but won’t convert into sales.

$150-$300 per Month Website
This is usually where we start out for the most basic of websites. It will truly be custom design and development work. You will get all of the Search Engine Optimization benefits associated with it but will need to provide the future content. (We build the platform and you write the posts). These are usually company blogs or simple one page “About Us / How to Reach Us” websites.

$500 – $1000 per Month Website
This is where the majority of our clients fall. A 5-10 page fully optimized website for a small business looking to grow online. At this price-point you are paying for the highest quality of the work and ongoing updates on the website.  These websites come with the latest Encrypted Security and have one purpose, to drive sales!

$1000 – $3000 per Month Website
This is a quality e-Commerce website or a membership site with a robust back-end database. This could also be a large website with hundreds of pages, or a flashy high-functioning website with virtual designers.
